Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information TaxValueCheck collects, how we use it, how we store it, and when we share it. It applies to the TaxValueCheck website and services.

We keep this policy simple and honest: we collect very little information, we do not sell personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers.

1. The free property-tax check

When you enter a property address for the free check:

  • The address is sent to the U.S. Census Bureau's free geocoding service (geocoding.geo.census.gov) to locate the property.
  • We then look up the property's public appraisal record in our local copy of Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) public records, which we download from HCAD's official bulk-data site.

We do not ask for your name, email, or any account, and we do not store the addresses that are searched. The free check leaves no account and no profile.

2. The paid "Detailed Appeal Analysis"

When you purchase the Detailed Appeal Analysis ($59):

  • Payment and checkout are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. At Stripe's hosted checkout you provide your email address and payment details. We never receive or store your card number. Stripe's own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy) applies to the checkout data they process.
  • After a successful purchase, we receive the email address you used at checkout (so we can deliver your report) and a confirmation of the payment.
  • To prepare the analysis we need the property address; if we don't already have it from your session, you provide it by replying to your receipt email or contacting support.
  • To prepare the analysis, we use third-party property-data sources: ATTOM (comparable-sales and property data), Harris County Clerk public deed records, and HCAD public records. These are used to research the property and its comparable sales; we do not upload any personal information to them.
  • Your report is delivered to your email as a PDF.

3. Support and refund requests

If you contact support or request a refund, we receive your email address and whatever you write to us (for example, the property address and order details). We use that only to help you and to process any refund.

4. How we use information

We use the information described above only to:

  • provide the free check,
  • fulfill your paid analysis (research the property, prepare and deliver your report),
  • respond to support requests and process refunds,
  • keep required business records (for example, payment and refund records for accounting),
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not use it for advertising, marketing, or profiling. We do not build user profiles. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with marketers.

5. How we store information

  • Free-check searches are not stored.
  • Order and support records (email address, purchase confirmation, correspondence, and any property address you provide) are kept for as long as needed to fulfill the service, handle support/refunds, and keep required financial records (typically a few years for payment records), after which they are deleted.
  • Our site and database do not run user accounts, cookies, analytics, or tracking of visitors.

6. When we share information

We share information only in these limited cases:

  • Stripe — to process your payment (card data goes to Stripe, never to us).
  • Third-party property-data providers — the property address (public information) is used with providers such as the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder (free check) and ATTOM / Harris County Clerk records (paid analysis) to obtain public property data.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect our legal rights.
  • Service providers — in the future, if we use a service provider (such as an email delivery service) to operate the service, we would share only the minimum information needed, under a contract requiring them to protect it.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

7. Cookies and tracking

We do not set cookies, use analytics, or use advertising or social-media trackers on our site. Note that Stripe's hosted checkout page is operated by Stripe and may set its own cookies in accordance with Stripe's privacy policy.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures: the site is served over HTTPS, payment processing is handled by Stripe (a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor), and access to any customer information we hold is limited to what is needed to operate the service.

9. Your rights

You may ask us at any time to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email taxvaluecheck@mail.com and we will respond promptly (typically within a few business days). Note that we may need to keep certain records (such as payment records) for legal or accounting reasons.

10. Children

TaxValueCheck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. Changes to this Policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted on this page.
